Financials - FY 2010

The Hole in the Wall Gang Fund’s cost of funds raised based on IRS Form 990 for fiscal year 2010 was 13.1 cents on the dollar, well exceeding the standards established by organizations that monitor the work of charities. We remain grateful to our donors and committed to showing the utmost respect for every dollar raised by ensuring the greatest possible impact on children and their families.

Unrestricted support of $9.5 million funded fiscal year 2010 operations. Gifts from individuals comprised 43% of this amount while corporate and foundation gifts amounted to 30% and 20% of total support, respectively. Organizations and in kind donations contributed the remaining 7%. Capital contributions were $281,000.

Fiscal year 2010 unrestricted expenses totaled $9.35 million. Expenses for Camp programs represented 82% of total expenses. Activities at Camp, including both the summer and off-season months, amounted to 51%, support to other camps and organizations with similar missions was 20%, and the Hospital Outreach Program comprised 11% of those expenses. Development costs represented 14% of total expenses and general and administrative expenses accounted for the remaining 4% of expenses.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization with camping facility in Ashford, CT and development offices in New Haven, CT. Established in 1988, it is the first camp founded in Paul Newman's family of camps collectively know as SeriousFun Children's Network.
